Maryland Correctional Training Center Recognizes Outstanding Employees for the First Quarter of 2012
TOWSON, MD (April 11, 2012) - Warden Phil Morgan has named Kelly Vinci as Correctional Officer of the Quarter, Jessica Stevenson as Employee of the Quarter and John Whiteman as Supervisor of the Quarter for their dedicated service to the Maryland Correctional Training Center (MCTC) during the first quarter of 2012.
Kelly Vinci, Correctional Officer II, a conscientious, detail-oriented and forward-thinking employee, often takes on additional duties within the facility. She recently took the initiative to streamline the institution’s visiting registration process. Enhancing accountability for offenders, Officer Vinci also helped develop and maintain a system for receiving and verifying employer schedules.
Officer Vinci has been employed at MCTC since February 25, 2008.
Jessica Stevenson, Correctional Case Management Specialist I, is an energetic, professional and positive employee who is always ready to assist fellow co-workers. Stevenson handles her case load with enthusiasm, showing expertise in her knowledge of case management procedures, while also volunteering to take on additional duties when needed.
Stevenson has been employed at MCTC since October 15, 2007.
Promoted to Captain in 2011, John Whiteman has assumed the responsibility of the Operations Captain on the 4-12 Shift and has implemented several improvements to the record keeping and organization of the office. Captain Whiteman is deliberate, accurate and an excellent leader during the evening shift.
In the summer of 2011, Captain Whiteman was appointed as the Tactical Commander for MCTC. Captain Whiteman’s experience as a 20-year veteran of the US Army and having served two tours in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba prepared him for his assignment. Since then, Captain Whiteman has completely revamped MCTC’s Tactical Team. He is a positive influence on supervisors and line staff.
Captain John Whiteman has been employed at MCTC since January 21, 2000.
MCTC, located south of Hagerstown on Roxbury Road, is a correctional facility that houses approximately 2,700 male offenders. There are approximately 600 personnel positions at the prison.
