Roxbury Correctional Institution Announces Supervisor of the Quarter

TOWSON, MD (January 5, 2011) – Warden Gregg Hershberger has named Roxbury Correctional Institution’s (RCI’s) Employees of the Month for January, 2012.

Ray Riffey, Correctional Officer Lieutenant on the 3 to 11 p.m. shift, is the supervisor of the quarter. Lt. Riffey volunteers on special teams within the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services and the institution. He also supervises the daily operation of the disciplinary segregation unit. Lt. Riffey leads by example and is well-respected by his peers and subordinates.

Riffey has been employed with the State of Maryland since September, 2001.

James Wills, Correctional Officer II, has been selected as January’s Employee of the Month because of his outstanding observation skills. Officer Wills found and confiscated contraband someone attempted to send into the institution. His thoroughness, professionalism and observation prevented the contraband from entering RCI.

Wills has been employed with the State of Maryland since July, 2008. RCI, located south of Hagerstown on Roxbury Road, is a DPSCS facility that houses approximately 1,700 male offenders. There are approximately 450 personnel positions at the prison.
