Maryland Correctional Training Center announces Employee of the Month for June 2011

TOWSON, MD (June 8, 2011) – Correctional Officer II Tommy Young was named Employee of the Month for June 2011 at the Maryland Correctional Training Center south of Hagerstown.

For the past several months, Officer Young has exemplified himself by going above and beyond the normal duties of his assigned area, showing exceptional job performance during a period of time when the institution was undergoing construction.

Officer Young performs all of his duties in a professional manner with no complaints. His friendly disposition makes it very easy for him to get along with others. He keeps the lines of communication open between staff and inmates, making for a safer and more secure area where he is assigned, in one of the education buildings. Officer Young is well respected by staff and students.

Officer Young is proactive, flexible, and well organized. He is proficient in using computers and was more than willing to become a user on the institution’s school network in order to handle the attendance issues in a competent, timely manner. Officer Young has a real willingness to learn more so he can be the best officer in his assigned area.

Officer Young has been employed at the Maryland Correctional Training Center since July 4, 1990.

Maryland Correctional Training Center, located south of Hagerstown on Roxbury Road, is a Division of Correction facility that houses approximately 2,700 male offenders. There are approximately 600 personnel positions at the prison.
