SYKESVILLE, Md. - On Wednesday authorities are holding a seminar to educate school administrators and community police officers on the dangers of sexting and sexual predators.

The goal is to have people attending the seminar talk to young people and their parents about sexting and sexual predators. The Maryland Community Crime Prevention Institute is hosting the event.

Organizers say young people must learn that sending sexually explicit photographs of people under 18 can lead to federal child pornography charges. A cell phone used to intimidate a boyfriend or girlfriend may violate state laws against telephone misuse and harassment.

The seminar runs from 10am to noon at the Maryland Public Safety Education Training Center in Sykesville on the grounds of Springfield Hospital Center.

For more information on the seminar call 410-875-3425 or 1-800-303-8802.
